Hello everyone,

Happy Ides of March!  We (Haze & Dacey) played a fun show last weekend at Rare Olde Times, opening up for the Dhocmatics.  I have to say it's nice...

The Haze & Dacey duo started off the year with a couple of gigs in eastern Virginia.  The very first show was at Southwind Pizza in Mathews, and it was seriously one of the best gigs EVER...

It has often struck me that making music is similar to Darwinian evolution by natural selection...

Facebook is now forcing page owners to pay to promote every post/update from their page... so I'm reviving my blog...

Hi everyone!  Happy early spring!

I wanted to let you know about two shows coming up next week.

First, on the evening of Tuesday, February 28 I am very excited to host my first-ever "Naked Songs" session.

I found this last night as I was consolidating files on an old hard drive...

I just played one of the most delightful solo gigs ever last night...

Check it out! I just finished putting together a little demo sampler and you can hear it on SoundCloud!

Over Veteran’s Day weekend, Haze & The Transients, along with several friends, rented a cluster of three cabins out at First Landing State Park (Virginia Beach).  This was a time for us to work on some music, do some recording, hold a photo shoot, and relax and socialize in a beautiful setting...

Hello friends and fans!

The band is laying low for the next month or so.  No public performances, but we're going on a band retreat over Veteran's Day weekend to learn some new songs, polish up some others, perhaps do a little recording and a photo shoot, and most of all relax and have fun!  Hopefully we'll have some good tidbits to share with you after that.

In the meantime, I do have two solo performances coming up.

Happy Spring!

Lots of stuff coming up this month, starting with TONIGHT. Tonight (Sunday, March 13) I've got a solo/duo show at the Commercial Taphouse. Scott Martin will be accompanying me on lead guitar for the first set. "Doc" will be playing the second set, and then I'll close out the show with a solo set. The show starts at 9 pm and I hope some of you can join us despite this late notice!

Next on the roster is our Benefit Show for the Epilepsy Foundation, which will be Saturday, March 19. It's going to be a great show with 5 local bands:  Road Kill Roy, The Rift, Whiskey Bros, Weeping Molly, and of course Haze & The Transients.  Despite what it says on the Capital Ale House website, this show starts at 8 pm. Tickets...

It was back in November, I think, or maybe in December, that I saw an ad on Craigslist, looking for musicians to compose music to sonnets by Shakespeare.  “Hmm, that’s an interesting challenge,” I thought.  I responded with a link to a Wendell Berry poem I had set to music a long time ago.  The organizer loved it, and encouraged me to submit something for the Shakespeare event.

Being quite ignorant of Shakepearean sonnets, I posted to the Transients’ Facebook page, requesting suggestions.  I got quite a few good ones, and I fully planned to compose something.  But the holidays came along and I got busy.  Yada yada yada.  I missed the January 1 deadline for submission.  I resigned myself to the fact that I’d botched a good opportunity to do something a little different.

But then the organizer got back in touch, saying he hoped he could count...

Friday night was my first show of 2011.  I played at Pie, a tiny little pizza place in the Fan.  So tiny, in fact, that I could not possibly fit my band in there.   The last time I played a show there I played as a duo with Scott Martin, but it was a little cramped.  So this time I went on my own.  I set up in the downstairs dining room, in a little alcove near the door.  It was a good dinner crowd, especially because I had a small group of friends there celebrating Karen's birthday.  Thanks for coming, ladies and gent!

I've gotten rather used to playing the bar scene, where I try to play my most upbeat material.  But here, the vibe was different.  Songs like "Black Horse and a Cherry Tree" or "Back to Me" would have been a little too loud and...

As the end of the year approaches, we want to thank all our friends and fans for coming out and supporting the live music scene. Since we still don't have a professional recording of us, I'm offering a free download of "Bookstore Crush," a song recorded with my previous band.  You may have heard it at one of our live shows, since we still like to cover it.

I just created a new account on SoundCloud, and uploaded a track. Check it out! Does it display/play correctly on our website? On Facebook? Let us know! Lately by Haze & The Transients

This is an attempt to synchronize our website's blog with the notes published on our Facebook page.  Will it work?  Let's see...  If you're reading it on Facebook, it worked!
